About us

The Dairy Research Unit is a new ecosystem of research and entrepreneurship, based on modern technologies and scientific knowledge, with the aim of creating a healthy and efficient system to deal with the problems in modern animal husbandry and industrial production. The new accredited Milk Research Unit is part of the large scientific family of ELGO-DIMITRA. The starting point for the establishment of the new unit was the ambitious program entitled "Research Infrastructure - MilkQuality - in Agri-Food". The project, which is being implemented by the Dairy Department of the Institution of Technology of Agricultural Products, is under the supervision of the Principal Investigator Dr. Marios Mataragas.

The Dairy Research Unit operates as an accredited (ISO 17025) infrastructure with modern equipment, which aims to improve the quality and added value of dairy products like fresh milk and cheese. Apart from the dairy sector, the facility can support other sectors, such as meat and products thereof. The Unit intends to create an ecosystem of research, knowledge, and entrepreneurship, which will contribute to the creation of a healthy and friendly, in the primary livestock production and industrial sector, problem-solving system, which will be based on modern technologies and scientific knowledge.
