Ioannina: New Milk Quality Research unit

The new certified Milk Quality Research Unit of the Institute of Agricultural Products Technology (ITAP) was inaugurated by the Minister of Agricultural Development and Food, Mr. G. Georgantas, on Friday, April 1, 2022, at the Milk Center of ELGO - DIMITRA, in Katsikas, Ioannina.

The new Unit, which is part of the large scientific family of ELGO - DIMITRA, will further help to upgrade the quality and added value of goat milk and cheese products, but also to highlight the value of their origin.

The starting point for its creation was the program entitled "Research Infrastructure - MilkQuality in Agri-Food", which is implemented by the Dairy Department of ITAP. The scientific manager of the project is Dr. Marios Mataragas, principal researcher of ELGO - DIMITRA.

The Milk Quality Research Unit essentially constitutes a new research system, which is based on modern technologies and scientific knowledge, with the aim of addressing the problems in modern animal husbandry and industrial production.
